Study on the ICC data processing technique based on 3D interpolation method

A method based on 3D interpolation technique is proposed to dispose ICC color data. By analyzing the structure of the ICC profile, the tag data A2B and B2A are firstly read, and then the color conversion between L*a*b* and CMYK are computed using the trilinear interpolation technique. In the experiment, the U.S web coated printer ICC profile is selected, and compared with the method of Adobe, the average color error in the conversion from CMYK to L*a*b* is 1.75 Color Difference Units(CDU), with the maximum error 2.67CDU; while in the conversion from L*a*b* to CMYK, the values of the 4 channels are very close between two methods, with the average error 1.33%. In the end the test shows the accuracy between two conversions is high, which indicates that the method proposed can be used in most color management process.
