Coupled magnetic-thermal fields analysis of water cooling flux-switching permanent magnet motors by an axially segmented model

Based on finite-element analysis (FEA), a 3D axially segmented coupled magnetic-thermal fields model of the flux-switching permanent magnet (FSPM) motor is proposed to count in the variations of flux density, iron loss and temperatures along axial direction. By dividing the FEA model into axial segments according to different temperatures in PMs, this new method can predict the electromagnetic and thermal behaviors much faster and easier than traditional synchronous coupled magnetic-thermal fields FEA methods, meanwhile with similar accuracies.
