The “Akogrimo” way towards an extended IMS architecture

The trend of merging telecommunication infrastructures with traditional IT infrastructures is ongoing. In the telecommunication area the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) is a promising service platform but its range of applicability is bounded to SIP enabled services. Parallel to this development, the notion of Virtual Organizations (VOs) enabling collaborative business across organizational boundaries is addressed in the frame of Next Generation Grids or more broad along the general trend of Service Oriented Architectures (SOA). Integrating these two platforms will broad the IMS range of applicability. This paper describes a solution to merging SIP with SOAP based applications.
