Decoupled control of real and reactive power by limiting the DC-link fluctuation for a doubly fed induction generator

This paper brings out an enhanced control technique for reactive power control of a Wind Generator using a grid-side converter control. The dynamic model of DFIG is developed through d-q reference frame. The back-to-back converter are modulated with SPWM and SVM techniques and hence compared. The converters allow four-quadrant operation in the P-Q plane by adjusting its switching pattern, thereby paving way for several drive applications. The role of the grid-side converter is to keep the DC-link voltage constant with less fluctuation regardless of the magnitude and direction of the rotor power flow.
