The Fault-Tolerant Mechanisms for the Parallel Switch PSIQC

PSIQC has good scalability and is easy to implement. The RRDS algorithm can balance the load between crossbars and guarantee the order of the packets of the same flow. But RRDS is not fault-tolerant. This paper presents the buffer admission-control and local-sequence mechanisms to solve this problem, and proposes a revised algorithm LS-RRDS based on the local-sequence mechanism. LS-RRDS can tolerate many cell losses with little cost. The simulation results show that the local sequence and buffer admission-control mechanisms have the same advantages as RRDS, such as load balancing, high throughput and avoiding packet reordering.
