Computer Information Systems as Determinants of Police Investigation Performance: An Empirical Study

Police performance is a complicated construct. When focusing on police investigations done by detectives, we apply the value configuration of the value shop to define and measure police performance. The survey research suggests that detectives in police investigations improve their performance when (i) decision leadership roles become important, (ii) knowledge sharing improves, (iii) more information technology is used in the activities of the investigation, and when (iv) law enforcement information systems are used in the investigation. These findings were derived from a research model that was statistically tested using structural equation modeling.
