Power quality improvement in a vector controlled PMSM drive using non-isolated PFC zeta converter

This paper presents a non-isolated power factor correction (PFC) Zeta converter fed vector controlled round rotor Permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drive operating under variable load and speed. The vector controlled drive uses a proportional-integral (PI) controller for production of maximum torque per ampere, while the PFC converter improves power quality (PQ) at AC mains in continuous inductor current mode (CICM). The input current to PFC converter is shaped with the help of two sensors to achieve power factor correction. Simulations of the drive performance under varying load torque, motor speed and AC voltage have been conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of proposed concepts.
