Collisions of Ar17+ ions with gaseous and solid targets at a few tens of keV/q probed by X-ray spectroscopy

Collisions of 15 keV/q Ar17+ ions with neutral atoms and solids have been investigated by high –resolution x-ray spectroscopy allowing, for the first time, a direct comparison in the excited state populations.
