The GlobalEd Project: Problem-solving and decision making in a web-based PBL

The GlobalEd Project is a problem-based learning simulation delivered via the web for middle and high school students as their classes are assigned the role of a specific country with the goal of negotiating a treaty with one of the other participating classes/countries during a five-week period. A repeated measures ANOVA conducted on a Knowledge scale indicated a significant preto post-test increase; that females were more interested in school than males; and females reported an increase in behaviors over the simulation, while males reported a decrease. The results are discussed within the PBL framework.
