Verification of permanent magnet synchronous generator for stand-alone wind power

Permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) is widely used as wind power generator, due to its high power density, high efficiency and free of maintance. In this paper, the cogging torque, open circuit phase voltage and volt-ampere characteristic are analyzed in detail by finite element method (FEM), and also verified by experiments on prototype. Besides, it is presented that the wind turbine can't drive the prototype to output 600W power at very lower wind speed.
