Deinterlacing system and method of digital tv

PURPOSE: A deinterlacing system and method of a digital TV are provided to produce high quality of picture through simple hardware configuration when an interlaced-scanned image is converted into a sequential-scanned image. CONSTITUTION: The first pattern detection unit receives the pixel value of the nth field and detects a brightness profile pattern using the pixel value and its neighboring pixel values. The second pattern detection unit receives the pixel value of the (n-2)th field and detects a brightness profile pattern using the pixel value and its neighboring pixel values. A brightness profile pattern difference detection unit detects the difference between the brightness profile pattern detected by the first pattern detection unit and the brightness profile pattern detected by the second pattern detection unit. A brightness different detection unit detects the difference between the brightness of the pixel value of the nth field and the brightness of the pixel value of the (n-2)th field. A mapping and comparison unit maps the brightness profile pattern difference value and the pixel value brightness difference value, compares the two mapped value with each other, and determines the degree of a motion according to the compared result.
