A Novel Multibeam Antenna Using Parasitic Patch and Shorting-pin

In this paper, one multibeam antenna using parasitic patch and shorting-pin are explored. Different from reflector and beamforming network multibeam antenna, four shorted parasitic patches are distributed around a square patch to form a beam in a given direction with high gain. Also, five shorting-pins are loaded in each edge of the square patch to change the resonant frequency. The simulated result shows that four beams are obtained at 5.3 GHz with a gain of 7.36 dBi. This novel approach to design compact multibeam antenna can be applied to satellite communication, 5G communication and internet of things.
