Continuous outdoor air sampler.

Abstract A 115-volt electric-powered air sampler which continuously samples outdoor air with high efficiency for particulate and for gaseous contaminants was assembled and tested by field use. It operates with little attention for more than a week and has been successfully tested in ambient temperatures ranging from -10° to 100°F. The sampler consists of a vacuum pump which pulls air first through a membrane filter for removing particulate materials and then through a liquid-filled scrubber for removing gaseous contaminants. The complete sampler, including the aluminum cabinets which house the sampling equipment, costs several hundred dollars.
