The Dictionary of Microscopy is a comprehensive compilation of concise definitions of the most important terms used today in various areas of microscopy, including light microscopy, electron microscopy, scanning probe microscopy, and X-ray microscopy. Julian P. Heath prepared this dictionary in response to the huge advances in the development of microscopes and the broadening of their applications in the life and materials sciences during the past decades, which was paralleled by an expansion of the vocabulary of technical words. The dictionary contains over 2,500 definitions of specific terms used in modern microscopy.
