Identification of Ritz vectors from the space shuttle vertical stabilizer assembly test article

Load dependent Ritz vectors have been demonstrated to offer great potential in the areas of finite element model correlation and structural damage detection. To verify the feasibility and accuracy of the new Ritz Realization Algorithm (RRA), dynamic response data and static test results from the Space Shuttle vertical stabilizer assembly experimental database are utilized. The cost of this new system identification procedure is minimum since it utilizes the same data used in a traditional modal survey test. Comparing to static test data, accurate Ritz vectors were extracted using data from accelerometer anti laser scanning vibrometer modal survey tests.
