PON Technology in the Verizon Network

Bandwidth demand in homes and businesses is steadily increasing. To meet this demand, Verizon is deploying an all fiber access network using a PON (Passive Optical Network) architecture. The network of the future needs to be robust and flexible. Verizon's FTTP (Fiber to the Premises) network provides Verizon the infrastructure to meet ever increasing bandwidth needs. Verizon's fiber-optic network provides the capability for nearly unlimited bandwidth for voice, Internet and high-definition TV services, and is designed to handle new applications as they develop. Verizon's services, FiOS Video and FiOS Internet, offer video and data services that are unmatched by any other service provider. Verizon has an aggressive deployment planned - that is on track. Service innovation will continue to accompany infrastructure deployment. Market acceptance is beating expectations.
