Sequential estimation strategy based on sensitivity analysis for vehicle handling parameter estimation

In this work vehicle handling parameters are estimated using a sequence of maneuvers rather than a single specific maneuver. Unlike other vehicle handling parameter estimation methods, the evolutionary optimization procedure, Genetic Algorithm has been applied directly to the CarSim® multi-degree of freedom vehicle model. The use of CarSim® multi-degree of freedom vehicle model rather than simple vehicle models replicates fully the actual car. A parametric study acts as the starting point and enumerates the sensitivity link between a particular maneuver and one or more vehicle response parameters. Later the estimated vehicle handling parameters are verified with different maneuvers, to underline the consistency of the prediction.
