Add/drop operation for 100 Gbit/s optical signal based on optical wavelength conversion by four-wave mixing

The authors propose an add/drop operation scheme for >100 Gbit/s optical time division multiplexed signals based on optical wavelength conversion through four-wave mixing. The configuration consists of a prescaled timing extraction circuit, and an optical demultiplexer and multiplexer, all of which are based on four-wave mixing. Its basic operation is confirmed in an experiment that successfully reconstructs a 4-channel, 7.5 ps separation, optical signal.
