Meeting Student Needs through Computer-aided Melodic Dictation: A Metacognitive Approach

Research has indicated that computerised aural training and metacognition are effective means to facilitate instruction. This paper details the design and development of new flexible melodic dictation software which incorporates features deemed important by research and provides the kinds of feedback requested by tertiary music students. This session will include a demonstration which highlights the ability of the software to provide individual diagnosis and treatment for each learner.
