A new pairing step for the MEMP method

This paper deals with high resolution frequency estimation for two-dimensional signals or images. We propose a new approach to estimate the signal frequency parameters. The frequencies related to each dimension are first estimated separately in the same way as the MEMP (matrix enhancement and matrix pencil) method (Hua 1992) does. Then, these estimated frequencies must be paired to form two-dimensional components. Here we propose a new pairing step. This pairing step is more robust than the criterion defined by Hua when two or more frequencies in both dimensions have the same value. It can also be applied to signals with damped or undamped complex sinusoids.
