Control of Dead-Time Processes (J.E. Normey-Rico and E.F. Camacho; 2007) [Book Review]

This book presents three widely used control strategies in a textbook format, which until recently were available only through multiple sources. Some topics covered include: examples of processes with dead time; approximations of dead time; design methods and configurations of PID control; dead-time compensators; model predictive control (MPC); robust analysis and control design; linear MIMO systems; MPC for MIMO systems; and predictors for control purposes. The book contains a generous number of practical examples. The material is well organized and nicely presented. The book is suitable as a textbook for a graduate level course or as a reference for practicing engineers. The first eight chapters can also be considered as a textbook for a final year undergraduate course.
