Pattern Design Using 3D Software-A Case of Technology Transfer in Hong Kong.

This paper discusses the methodology developed for 3-dimensional pattern derivation within the context of the Pattern Design Technology Centre, which was opened in the Institute of Textiles & Clothing, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, in 1998. Options for transferring know-how to the industry are explored and reference is given to commercialisation of the computer-based system. Recommendations are provided for the effective cooperation of academic and industrial personnel in the context of technology transfer.
