A Case Study of Collaborative Education Based on Building Information Model

Engineering Management is a complex major which aims to educate students to understand both engineering techniques and management principles well. In the engineering management industry the collaboration among teams is so important that every student in Engineering Management should understand it. Unfortunately traditional education method is inefficient in collaboration education. This paper presents an efficient method to educate students how to collaborate based on visual Building Information Model which can simplifies the complicated engineering information flows and visualizes the profound engineering techniques, so students can easily understand how to communicate with each other. A case study based on this collaborative education reveals that students can communicate and cooperate well, and foster some collaboration abilities which can not just be taught in class.
