Bulk‐to‐surface diffusion measurements in a (111)Cu(0.1 at.%)Sn single crystal using a linear programmed heating method

Using the recently proposed method of linear heating, the diffusion parameters (D 0 and E) were determined for a Cu(0.1:at.%)Sn single crystal. In this method, the sample temperature is increased linearly with time and the surface concentration is measured by Auger electron spectroscopy as a function of temperature (or time). The main advantage of this method is that the diffusion parameters may be obtained from a single run. Four runs were made at 0.1, 0.25, 0.5 and 1.0 o Cs -1 and the average diffusion parameters (D 0 =9.2×10 -4 m 2 s -1 and E=189 kJ mol -1 ) agree well with other published values
