Development of an Integration Platform Metamodel

With the development of a new integration platform a general approach can be useful. A metamodel offers a solution here: with the help of a metamodel a better understanding of integration platforms can be achieved. This paper describes the design of a domain independent metamodel for integration platforms and the application of this metamodel on the logistic domain. The development of this metamodel is based on a 6step metamodeling approach. Knowledge from the logistic domain is applied to the developed metamodel and a small case study with an existing integration platform is done. The developed metamodel gives insights into the structure of integration platforms and can be used as a template for the development of new integration platforms. With domain knowledge from the logistic domain this metamodel is further specialized. The case study has shown that there are a lot of commonalities between Integration approaches in literature and the studied Connect Platform from Simacan.
