Panel Flutter Model Identification Using the Minimum Model Error Method. Part 2: Forced Response

fluttering panel using the free response data is discussed. Model identification using position and velocity data from the forced response of the panel is presented here. The response of the panel was numerically simulated using two dierent discretization approaches: through finite dierences and using the Galerkin’s method. The data from two dierent parts of response time history was considered. First, the data where transients due to initial conditions and the forcing were present was used for identification. Then, the data when only transients due to forcing were present was used for identification. All 3 DOF models obtained using the forced response of the panel were able to capture the behavior of the true system very accurately. Identification of models of larger sizes is also discussed. Response surface methodology was successfully applied to generate models for various flow regimes.
