On the coercivity of SmCo5

Abstract The influence of certain heat treatments on the coercivity of SmCo 5 is investigated. It is found that the coercivity decreases after heating above 800°C, but increases at higher temperatures. A model, accounting for the high coercivity is proposed, which is based on pinning rather than on nucleation of domain walls.
