Administrative Uses of the Microcomputer

AbstractWhile administrative data processing has been used by many schools and colleges since the 1950's, the widespread availability of powerful microcomputers in the 1980's is leading more and more administrators into the application of such technology to their routine tasks. Word processing and electronic mail contribute to office automation; use of electronic spread sheets, data base management systems, and improved management information systems contribute to more effective planning and administration. The current slate of technological applications is reviewed, and several potential problems are identified.
