Automation of Geographically Distributed Production Processes Using Hierarchical Hybrid Controls

Abstract This paper describes a methodology to implement integrated automation systems that are modeled as hybrid systems. A three levels hierarchy is used to achieve the control of the whole plant installed over the existent control devices and computer architecture. The control algorithms used for the lowest level are the same as before, but the parameters are set by the occurrence of events which appears at the plant or at the environment. An application in oil production is shown.
