Low-Order Modelling for Chevron Jet Noise based on LES data

An hybrid acoustic analogy model – informed by LES has been applied to the prediction of noise from an isothermal SMC006 chevron jet tested during the NASA SHJAR programme. The acoustic source modelling is based on a mixture of RANS/LES techniques and for sound propagation a locally parallel mean flow model is used. The results of acoustic modelling are compared with the NASA SHJAR narrowband measurements and also with the predictions from a standard permeable-surface Ffowcs Williams – Hawkings method based on the same LES data.
