THE KEY FACTORS OF GREEN PORT IN SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

According to the International Energy Agency report, generation of electricity and heat was the largest producer of CO2 emissions and transport was the second-largest sector in 2008. Besides, CO2 emissions from transport are dominated by road. Second is Marine bunker. It revealed that port activities caused environmental pollution and influenced the health of residents of local communities. Therefore, at present, both domestic and foreign ports have respectively proposed the notions of “green ports”. This paper discussed the content of green ports by reviewing the literatures and latest trend. The four international ports (port of Keelung, port of Taipei, port of Taichung, port of Kaohsiung and port of Hualien) in Taiwan are our research targets and the successful green ports are port of Los Angeles and port of Long Beach. This paper collected data from two questionnaires. After using consistency and validity to check questionnaires are confident, this paper extracted five key factors by principle component analysis. Then, indicating the characteristic of the successful green ports and the gap between four ports in Taiwan and the successful green ports based on five key factors.
