Iterative receiver with bit-level MIMO detection and cancellation

The iterative receiver for multiple input multiple output (MIMO) channels is investigated with the bit-level cancellation (BLC) in the paper for a modulation of square constellation. The cancellation can be used to reduce the complexity of the MIMO detection by using the extrinsic information from the channel decoder. We show that the BLC can approximate the maximum a posteriori probability (MAP) detection so that the complexity of the MIMO detection can be significantly reduced. The resulting complexity is similar to that of the conventional nulling and cancellation (N/C) detector, while the performance can be close to that of the iterative receiver which can perfectly cancel the interference for 4-ary quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM).
