Some interesting electrophysicochemical characteristics of a waterpen point-to-plate discharge of DC and AC powers have been investigated in a room atmosphere. The metal point electrode of a conventional point-to-plate airgap should be bombarded severely by the energetic ions from the discharge region near the point. Concurrently the temperature of the point would be elevated greatly. There would be different characteristics of the waterpen point discharge from the metal point one, because the surface temperature of the waterpen point. In this paper, discharges and electrophysicochemical characteristics of a waterpen point and a metal point of Pt have been studied to check the differences in the characteristics. It is found that mists and sprays are dispersed out from the waterpen point by the bombardment of ions. And the positive corona was effective for mists dispersion while the negative one was dominant for sprays dispersion, but the AC one dispersed both mists and sprays. And the AC discharge of the waterpen point generated ozone more, while the negative DC discharge of the Pt point produced ozone greatly. AC discharges of the waterpen point and the Pt point produced a little NO, and DC discharges of the both points generated little NO.
