Intermediate level and full-field models of shielding effectiveness in cabinets

The prediction of the shielding effectiveness (SE) of equipment cabinets is a very important aspect of EMC design and therefore one for which significant modelling effort has been dedicated over many years. The complexity of practical designs is such that a completely rigorous approach is problematic. Several approaches have been devised to deal with such problems starting from semi-empirical models through intermediate and full-field models. Each class of model has its own strengths and weaknesses. The paper surveys the different classes of model available and presents their main characteristics.
