Development in variable window algorithm for high speed and accurate digital distance protection

This paper describes the development and further improvement for the variable window algorithm which is suitable for high-speed power system digital distance protection. The use of the moving average technique in improving the protection performance is described. Extensive simulation results shows that this algorithm possesses excellent power system protection performance.
