Bacteremia caused by Pseudomonas mesophilica.

F irst detected in the environment,' Pseudomonas mesophilica has occasionally been isolated from clinical samples;2 however, its significance in those cases was questionable.3 In fact, well-documented, clinically relevant infections caused by P. mesophilica are extremely rare.4 Most of the infections have occurred in hospital.4 In 1986 the organism was implicated as the source of nosocomial infections in a bone marrow transplant unit.5 We report the first case of bacteremia due to P. mesophilica in an outpatient receiving parenteral nutrition.
