A real-time projection system based on object motion detection and tracking using optical camera

In this paper we present a real-time system for projection of image/video content on a moving objects (human) regions of interest (ROIs) using projector based on object motion detection and tracking using optical camera. We present techniques for correlation camera and projector I/O image/video stream designed to successfully combat different coordinate spaces and we discuss their performance. Dynamic adaptive control mechanisms to improve performance are also discussed. In our solution the object of interest is marked in the first frame, and afterwards its movement is tracked in limited area of the picture thus decreasing the processing time. Our algorithm does not depend on mutual position between camera and projector provided that they are in the same vertical plane. Furthermore, use of single low cost optical camera, without need for complex sensor equipment can significantly reduce overall system cost. To the best of our knowledge, there have been no studies for the above mentioned application to be realized.
