A systems approach to product design and development an ergonomic perspective

Abstract This study demonstrates that a systems approach, with participants drawn from the entire marketing system, can be very effective in developing ergonomically satisfactory product designs. All major functions, such as manufacturing and distribution were represented with respect to the ergonomic problem and its solution. The experimental findings show that the final product made the work more efficient and was also cost effective. The results also show that an ergonomically designed product, with input from the entire marketing system is well accepted by the market and does pay off its development costs.
