Continuity indicators decreasing through the optimal installation of single-phase distribution reclosers

One of the big challenges of Brazilian utilities is the reduction of continuity indicators, notably DEC and as stipulated by PRODIST, since high levels of DEC and FEC can mean fines applied by regulatory agency (ANEEL). Some techniques for decreasing and mitigating faults include the use of automatic reclosers, sectionalizers, etc. This paper shows a case study using single-phase reclosers to improve collective DEC and FEC indicators, including the mathematical method for determining the installation sites, and the results after installation in a real distribution circuit of Companhia Campolarguense de Energia (COCEL).
