Internet-integrated building control: leaving the lab-robust, scalable and secure

An infranet is a sub-computer network controlling infrastructure devices, for example, low-bandwidth sensor/actuator networks. Based on an analysis of heterogeneous systems for interconnecting distributed infrastructural devices and experience of a research prototype, the paper describes a production-level implementation of an integrating architecture for accessing various infranets via intranets and the Internet as well as telecommunication networks. Its modularity allows the rapid deployment of new application scenarios.
