Wind-Induced Vibration of a Large Broadcasting Tower

Abstract This paper discusses some measurements of acceleration response of a dynamically wind-sensitive lattice tower. The measurements have been compared with predictions of the along-wind response using random vibration theory and available design information. The along- and cross-wind accelerations both increased monotonically with mean wind speed, and were of similar magnitudes to each other. The predictions of the along-wind response generally underestimated the measured response; possible reasons for this are suggested in the paper.
