A asynchronous MAC layer channel selection scheme for multichannel ad hoc networks

Several MAC layer channel selection algorithms have been proposed for multi-channel ad hoc networks. These schemes engage in parallel data transmission on non-overlapping channels in the ISM band to achieve higher throughput in the network. However, most of these schemes either require multiple radio interfaces or tight clock synchronization for optimal performance. In this paper, we present a novel MAC layer channel selection algorithm for a multi-channel ad hoc network. The novelty of our scheme lies in the fact that it is both asynchronous and requires only a single radio interface. We compare the performance of our protocol to similar existing protocols and demonstrate the effectiveness of our scheme through simulation results.
