Experimental and theoretical study on anti-pulling properties of column base of National Stadium

This paper presents an experimental and theoretical study on anti-pulling properties of column base of National Stadium.The design of specimens and the failure procedures are described in detail.Besides,the "load-deflection" skeleton curves are given.Based on the results,the evolution of crack patterns and failure mode of pile caps are investigated and compared.Nonlinear finite element analysis of pile caps of steel column base under unilateral load is also carried out by ANSYS program.Agreement is obtained between theoretical and experimental results.
