On the basis of applying mathematical statistics to construct debris group the procedure of quantified qualitative ferrographic analysis was simplified and normalized. By using the method of debris group analysis and fuzzy mathematics, the characteristic parameters of debris group were constructed, and the membership functions of facts and fact categories were established. Finally, the fuzzy synthetic decision making system in ferrography was founded by synthesizing experience from actual wear condition monitoring. Furthermore, at the spot case was discussed to prove the reliability of this system.
