Estimation and optimization of storage availability for products with multiple storage states

According to the character of long-term repairable storage systems, a method for estimation and optimization of storage availability is presented. Such system experiences two storage periods, cold storage period and hot storage period. According to the different inspection methods of the two periods, we established the storage models based on periodic inspection and continuous inspection respectively, including instantaneous availability and limiting average availability model. By analyzing the relation between the two periods, the average storage availability of whole storage period is derived. Using it as the optimization objective, the best FFI (Failure Finding Interval) and the maximum average storage availability have been calculated. Finally, a numerical study is illustrated to verify the validity of the model.
