A quadratic-constrained least-squares approach to linear phase orthonormal filter bank design

The design of M-channel paraunitary linear-phase filter banks is considered. It is shown that the symmetry polarities of linear-phase filters must be a particular pattern if the filters have narrow transition band and high stopband attenuation. The general design problem is formulated as a quadratic-constrained optimization problem which offers fast convergence. An example is given to demonstrate the theory.<<ETX>>
