Electron Irradiation of Hydrocarbons. III. Radical Reactions and Diffusion During Radiolysis

This work concerns the theoretical study of the influence of tracks expansion on radicals reactions occuring during the radiolysis of hydrocarbons. It is shown that a dose rate effect may occur on the organic products yields. This should be due to the competition between organic radicals recombination and hydrogen abstraction from the solvent by these radicals. Hydrogen atoms, however, react chiefly by hydrogen abstraction from the solvent.
