Modelling and performance of IN-based broadband signalling systems

The goal of the newly proposed signalling systems is to provide the means for multimedia service support. As the user interaction with the network becomes more intense and services more complicated, a certain degree of signalling intelligence becomes paramount. The intelligent network (IN) based B-ISDN signalling is considered as a potential candidate for servicing multimedia broadband networks. For this alternative the paper proposes a set of models able to represent the system processes and functional entities activated for providing multimedia services. The methodology for analysing the system performance by virtue of these models is also established.
