Electromagnetic and Thermal Aspects of Special Permanent Magnet Generators for Short Term, Controlled Damping of Mechanical Oscillations

Some electromagnetic and thermal aspects are examined, concerning special PM generators, employed in damping mechanical oscillations in structural systems. The generated power, produced in short duration, high power, operating conditions, is converted and regulated by a suited converter, and delivered to an external resistor. Some modelling features and selected simulations are examined, together with test results obtained by a prototype
