TRACKING PERFORMANCE AS AFFECTED BY THE POSITION OF THE ATTITUDE DISPLAY

Abstract : A study was conducted to determine if the position of an attitude display with reference to the orientation of the subject and the position of the control stick affected performance. PerformANCE WAS ADVERSELY AFFECTED WHEN THE DISPLAY WAS ROTATIONALLY OFFSET 45 DEGREES FROM A LINE PASSING THROUGH THE SUBJECT'S BODY AND THE CONTROL STICK, AS COMPARED TO THE CONDITION WHERE THE DISPLAY WAS DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF THE SUBJECT.
